Spring and early summer are times for Those Who Fly to build their nests and have their babies. This year it seems we have a maternity ward surrounding our home. We have the usual bird parents: Cardinal, Finch, Robin, Oriole and Warblers. There is a new addition that we have not seen here before, Cat Bird.
It took a while to identify this mating pair. I also had to research the spiritual quality of this bird showing up and bringing its medicine to our lives. According to Ted Andrews, Cat Bird is a talented and tireless singer with its ability to make a variety of sounds. This leads to the use of languages and communication. Cat Bird has two broods in a season, and this medicine brings in the essence fertility and abundance of creativity.
An old saying came to mind, sitting in the catbird seat. This cliché means to be in a position of advantage as the cat bird tends to sing their songs from a high perch.
If we blend Ted Andrews and the cliché meanings, Paul and I may have the blessing of the ability and advantage to use communication in many different ways.
I can’t wait to see their babies and listen to their songs. Here is a video that helped me to understand how the catbird sings.
