My primary space clearing tool is my drum. The soul connection I have with my drum as a space clearing tool brings me joy and also reverence with the connection of the whole Universe. When I use my drum to space clear a home or property, I call to and welcome in the Creator, Father Sky, Mother Earth and the sacred 4 Directions. When I connect to these sacred Beings, I am connecting to All My Relations, to all that is to request assistance in removing the lower vibrations and to bless the home with Love.
I know in my heart that the whole Universe comes to answer my prayer request. As I drum, the sacred sound of the drum shakes up and shatters the low vibrational energies, such as negative thought forms, and Spirit scoops them up to transmute them to love upon release.
Here is an example of how to drum a prayer. I shared this in a newsletter item last year. I thought you, dear reader, may find the information of interest. If you are interested in making your own sacred drum, I will be in Hastings, Michigan, May 19th teaching a Sacred Drum Making workshop. If you would like to learn how to use your drum as a space clearing tool, I will be teaching the Fine Art of Space Clearing in Grand Rapids Michigan June 15-17. (see my website for more information, Sacred Hoop)
Why use sacred sound, such as drumming, to send out a prayer? Combining a heart-felt prayer and drumming or any other sacred sound becomes a very potent, powerful, communication to Spirit. When you speak your prayer out loud you are using your voice and your breath. As Miguel Ruiz states in his book, The Four Agreements, the word is sacred because the words ride on our breath which was given to us by the Creator.
Drumming creates a sacred sound. This sacred sound symbolizes the heart beat of our human mother and our Earth mother. It is a sound we hear before we are born. It is not only the sound of the beat but also the space between the beats that is sacred. The space or gap between the beats is where the sacred geometry of the sound resides. The space or gap between the drum beats, the sacred geometry, becomes the vehicle for the spoken prayer to ride on out to the Creator.
What can you using prayer drumming for? You can drum a prayer for anything or anyone. Before you begin your prayer and drumming, take some time to consider what you are praying for before you begin speaking or drumming. Your prayer is filled with clear intention. For example, you can drum a prayer for an ill friend or relative. You might state a prayer like this, “Creator, please send angels to my friend Joe to ease his pain, to keep him safe, to ease his fears. Please bless Joe with your love and with better health.” End your prayer with an Amen, So It Is, It is Done, Aho. Close the prayer however feels right and comfortable to you.
Before drumming, I like to be in a place and feeling of love. I believe this brings you to your heartspace. I suggest you bring love to your heart by thinking of someone or something you dearly love. This takes only a moment. When you feel you are in that place of feeling love, you can say out loud, “this drumming is for Joe, (in this example). Begin drumming. You can choose any beat you like such as slow and quiet or quicker and louder. You may find your drum beat changing without you wanting it to change. This change is okay and natural, just relax and be in the flow. This is Spirit working through you. As you drum, keep in mind and heart your prayer and see Joe healthy and happy. You can feel the natural ending of a drummed prayer by the beat slowing, getting softer or abruptly ending.
When you are finished drumming thank Spirit and your drum for helping you drum your prayer.
